SVS Auto Repairs & Dyno Tuning is a family business in Cairns. We service cars and 4WDs, delivering exemplary workmanship every time.

Our History

Owned and operated by Leigh Holman. Owing to his family’s involvement in speedway, Leigh became interested in motor vehicles at a very early age. He then went on to have a very successful speedway career, going from sedans to modifieds, followed by sprint cars, which he only gave up in 2003.

Leigh would later take on the major role building engines and fitting out race boats for the Cyclone ski racing team. He travelled to every corner of Australia, as well as raced overseas in Belgium and the U.S. The team won two world titles whilst Leigh was at the helm. From there, he took his two daughters, Chelsea and Sophie, and travelled around Australia racing go karts, with the girls winning various titles including a QLD state title.

After completing his trade apprenticeship, Leigh worked in various specialty workshops where he gained dyno tuning experience. In 1984, he purchased a performance workshop from well-known motor racer and Cairns property developer, Ian Thomas. While the workshop has had several names over the last 28 years, the name SVS (Special Vehicle Services) has dominated and been a major part of our business’s growth.

Our New Location

In October 2011, after being located at Newell Street, Westcourt for 20 years, we purchased our new modern premises at 19 Muir Street, Bungalow. This move was a major milestone. At last, we had room to move with a large 560 sq mtr open space workshop, which enabled us to design and create an efficient layout that allows our workshop to operate at maximum efficiency. It was only a matter of a couple of months before we needed more room, so we added another 205 sq mtr extension to include our Mainline Dynolog 1800AWD dyno room.

In the present day, SVS is the market leader and is often seen as the benchmark, so we are looking forward to leading the industry to bigger and better things. We proudly service clients in Cairns, Weipa and surrounding areas.
